God loves us. He wanted to be connected to us again. We have been separated since the fall in the garden. He shared his only begotten son with us that we might have eternal life. Without Jesus our only destination is death.
He loved us so very much he selected Mary to carry Jesus. Joseph loved God and listened to the angel carrying a message about supporting Mary. This little family was filled with love.
The love that God gives us is warm and cozy. It's stable and secure. His love is unrelenting no matter how we behave or react to him or others. He never gives us coal in our stocking as punishment. If God filled our Christmas stocking with coal it would be overflowing so that we could burn it and stay warm. He let's us choose to come to him. He never makes us worship or glorify him. If we choose to live without him or turn away from him -he lets us go.
Unlike any other conceived deity throughout history the one, true God gifts us with joy, peace and love when we worship and glorify him. It's our reward in Heaven -should we choose to follow and obey him.
If you are alone among hard hearted people,
if you are alone with no one nearby,
if you long for loved ones who are no longer among the living
---know that our Lord is with us unto the end of days. You need only turn to him.
Celebrate the joyous occasion through thanking and praising our Father in Heaven.
His joy and love will cover you!
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with
whom he is pleased!"
When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord had made known to us." And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in the manger.
Luke 2:13-20
The shepherds didn't stay and talk about seeing angels. They didn't say, "Hey let's make dinner and go to bed." They felt moved. They encouraged one another to see their Lord and they did in "haste."
And do you know what they did when they saw baby Jesus? They didn't ask how was the delivery or reach out to hold him. They didn't turn around to leave after a few minutes. No. The next verses describe how they "glorified and praised God for all they had seen and heard."
Be a shepherd this Christmas. Seek out the Lord with all of your heart. Ask to see him and know him. He does not disappoint. But when you see and hear him -don't let the moment pass and forget it. Embrace the moment and praise and glorify him. Faith is active -so go in haste and find the Lord. He is waiting for you.
May the Lord cover your hearts and minds this Christmas.
