Hurt by others in life...it's ok, God has your back!

In this life, we will be hurt by others. Sometimes intentionally. God gives us all the freedom of choice. We can live a life with or without him. We can be obedient or disobedient. It's awful when someone chooses to hurt us. It can be the worst kind of abuse you can imagine and  –oftentimes we can point our finger at the very person who has hurt us.

That’s the world’s way. We feel pain and must identify who did this horrid thing to us. Then we think of the ways they must pay. For the world’s way is littered with the idea of fairness and revenge.

Think of a time that you were hurt by another human being. Perhaps recently.  Did you focus your thoughts toward how to care for your enemy? I hope so.

If not, then consider what happens to the anger, resentment, and sadness that are nurtured within ourselves. We are actually tending and growing the root of bitterness within our very soul. The following verse is a ‘overcome evil’ sandwich. The first and last verse say the same thing; they are the bread that holds together the meat and veggies. Bible verses can sustain you, feed your soul…everyday, if you are obedient.

Do not repay evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.

If it is possible is far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Do not take revenge, my friends but leave room for God’s wrath for it is written, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord.”

On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
-Romans 12:17-21

These verses are not suggestions or ideas. These verses are directives. Have you been wanting to learn how to be more obedient to the Lord? Then it's time to work these verses into your daily life.  When I read this verse:

Do not take revenge, my friends but leave room for God’s wrath for it is written, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord.”

I feel protected and loved. For I may endure hurt today, but the Lord will repay it. Sometimes we'll know how he will avenge us but many times we won't. We have to turn away and trust that God's got this. The kind of wrath that the Lord has in store, for the one who has hurt his beloved, makes me pray for God to go easy on our enemy.

Has anyone hurt you in the past or are you being hurt you now –then remember the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, the Maker of the heavens and earth –stands behind you. He’s got your back. Give him room to avenge you. In the meantime, go on with life- pray for protection, listen for his directive, and actively love him through your respect of and obedience to his commands. Remember, you are his beloved.
